the characteristics of new media3

  • virtual reality
-immersive, interactive, experience new forms of image and simulation.
-It is an environment which is made by computer.
  • two kinds of VR
  1. immersive VR2.
  2. VR of online network
  • Cyberspace = immersive + network

----------------------------------------------------------------

Today`s topic is VR and cyberspace.

I`ve heard about vr and cybersapce and at first i thought these are same meaning

i coudn`t figure out differences between them.

They two have something in common - it`s out of the real world.

VR is the environment created by computer thing

cyberspace is another reality in vr (just my thought)

i think the game 'simcity' is sort of cuberspace

There seems to be real world where we live because everythings are in there -people, cars, buldings... whatever ...

so it`s very interesting we could see our selves and our life in virtual reality and everything in cybersapce are builted by you

the characteristics of new media2

  • Dipersal-the product of shifts in our ralationships
  • consumption
  1. Mass media and New media (news, story, UCC)
  2. New media is multiplicity of messages and sources
  3. Difference between centralised and dipersed media distribution systems(radio broadcast network, computer network)
  • production
  1. Developments of production technologies
  • prosumer = producer + consumer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

dispersal (흩어짐) vs distribute (분배)???

What i understand about dispersal and distribute is...

dispersal is 'spread'

for example u-tube , i upload my own file to web site and many people could see it.

i can also say that people move toward one point(information)

on the other hand , distribution is that some information is spread out in one way from one point.

Regarding prosumer, all the people become producers and consumers

(in u-tube i could be a director and a watcher)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just thought media was kind of feedback in the past during the class.

I mean someone drew paintings and made somethig for letting people know thing-history,

history fact...and....

But these days new media is interactivity.

for example TV, email, internet.... <-this is new media
