->pure medium-visionary

Distinguishing between kinds of new media
new media?
1.new experiences -new kinds of genre,textual form,entertainment..
2.new ways of representing the world -vitual world,internet,display phone..
3.new ways of the relationship-MSN
we can experience media by email,chatrooms, the web.....

It is hard to understand why new includes pure medium.
Pure medium is visual thing itself but new is idea and thinking!
So i think
the subject matter(story)of new is thinking , idea &
the form of new is pure medium
so that`s why new includes pure medium.

-a cluster of glamorous and exciting meaning

If i define new as something better, i think something is added into the previous one.
Something would be emotional thing , the developed form or the creactive thing.
So new media is explained by adding new one

Theoretical Background 1- 9/11
I`ve never taken classes related to media. I mean it`s my first time.
The calss was interesting and fun more than i expected.
But the lecture of theoritical background was a little bit boring. ^^
Anyway, we talked about 'What is art? Is art important?'
A Philosopher,Plato, thinks art is techne.
Other philosopher (Hume, Kant.. i cant remember the exact name)thinks
art is taste and thinking.
I wonder why they(philosophers) wanted to define ART as something.
I think art is just what we think and what we feel
And then we produce paintings ,status and sculptures.... Maybe we want to
keep our emotion permanently by making something.
Is art important?
Of course!
Art is our life.
It reflects our life and our environment.
It is wonder we mention our life without art!!
I`m looking forward to enjoying next class~
